must ballads sing of turtledoves?
yesterday's hopes and unrequitted love?
must all roads do come to an end
equations if balanced, do balances equate?
an act if condoned, can it not be sin
nested within sugarcoats of reason and just
in a moment so blessed by all to rejoice
need man be borne with evil in his heart
given for the purpose of malice and lust
to wreck havoc and burn the fires bright
on the charred earth, yet, there is a light
lingering faintly from a crevice deep
in through which evil fails to seep
flickering wildy as if to bate
eager to weld the weapons of fate.
